Dream World or Lack of Reality?

There are a variety of things that motivate people: family, entrepreneurial spirit, revenge, etc. Free spirit is another one of those motivating factors and that's the folks featured in this video have.

Specifically, this is a documentary about Jason Paul, a free runner that tries to find new ways in his daily life to fulfill his inner needs. On his journey to London he discovers that friendship and companion are essential values in life.

While this is a cool story, I question this free running concept. Yea, it takes a whole lot of athleticism, courage and creativity, but to me it appears these people lack a grounding in reality.

Sometimes It's Harder on the Parents

My oldest had to have two teeth pulled over the course of two weeks. The first time we went, I was a nervous wreck. I didn't know how well my kid would do with the shot, all the devices they use, etc.

Needless to say, she did fantastic with each one. The process is worse on the parents than it is on the kids. I didn't believe that to be true until I experienced it.

Today was the second extraction and I shot this with my iPad 2.

Vimeo Takes You to Video School

I'm a big fan of the video community Vimeo. It's sort of the independent version of YouTube. They recently launched a video school that shows users how to shoot good video.

The content covers a lot of aspects of best practices in video creation. For example, the below video outlines white balance and how it's important to capturing accurate colors in your video.

Despite the technology available to consumers these days — most of which is automated — it's still important to learn the basics to produce footage that's less point and shoot and more professional. After all, they're your memories so why not make them look as best as you possibly can.

American History Triple X

What happens if you were to mash-up historical moments in American History with porn? Yes, you read that right. The answer is that you'd get Bicentennial Curious a short film (20 minutes) that is a behind the scenes look at the making of a adult film franchise. However, it's not serious and is pretty hysterical.

It comes with all the cheesy stuff you'd expect in an adult film (without the nudity however), but it's wrapped up very nicely by the actors who are pretending to be dead serious about their craft. There's even a protest from regular citizens thrown in for comedic fun.

If you have 20 minutes to watch it and don't mind the dry humor and a little crassness as it relates to the adult film industry, it's a funny little piece.

Walt Disney Imagineers Bring Sounds to Life

The Disney experience is fun for the entire family. Both kids and adults get lost in a world that's unlike any other (putting aside the economic factors of course).

Everything the company does has that special touch of Disney magic, which collectively, creates an experience that builds memories.

The great thing that Disney does is in all the small details. One of those small details is sound. Everywhere you go in the park, every ride you go on or every shop you go in, visitors will be greeted with some sort of sound.

Here's a look at some of the behind the scenes work that the Disney Imagineers do as it relates to bringing the sounds of Disney to life.

Disney Memories and a little iMovie 11 Magic

I recently took the family to Disney World and had a fantastic time. One of the things I do after a vacation, of course, is go through the videos and pictures to see what I can create using my passion for video authoring -- movies, slideshows, etc.

I love story telling and video really helps you do that. Throw in some music, pictures with a Ken Burns motion effect and you got yourself a winner.

Now, with the release of iMovie '11, you can create some cool slideshows with presets. Check this one out I did of our vacation in sort of a theatrical release trailer way:

Then I did this one without much use of the new iMovie features, but still came out pretty good in my opinion:

How do you capture your family memories from vacation?
