Movember: Big Guy Style

Us movember com uploads files Downloads StyleGuide2011 pdf 1You socially aware peeps will know what Movember is, so I'm not speaking to you. For those of you who aren't socially aware -- and I mean social media -- here's what it's all about:

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

Of course, those of you who know me or follow me on the social web will say, hey, you already have some facial hair so you have to lop it all off and start fresh.

Nah, that's not gonna happen. I've been rocking the out of style goatee for nearly 10 years and I'm not going to lop it off now. The kids would freak. Trust me, I've asked them.

So what's the Big Guy going to do, you ask (and yes, I just referred to myself in the third person)?

I'm going with a hybrid mo.

Here are my options:

25 Things to Do Before the End of Summer

Screen Shot 2011 08 20 at 8 34 12 AM

With the summer just about over, there's a few things that my wife and I want to do with the kids. They created a summer wish list and we've just about knocked all the items off it. There's a few more things to do, but after reading this piece, we might want to add some more items to it.

What are your family plans for the end of the summer?

The Joys of Boating

I spent yesterday with the family on the water, literally. We cruised the water just off of Point of Pines Beach in Revere, MA. We did a little fishing, but only caught some Peroni's as opposed to fish. After we got back, we took the kids for a little spin and of course, I had to throw a little video together.

Happy Father's Day

Google Father's Day

Ah Father's Day, the one day of the year that we are celebrated for all the things we do for our kids and family. Well, I guess that's not totally true because every day is Father's Day in my house. There's nothing better than being a dad. I have two wonderful kids and a beautiful wife that keeps the family running. She's the CEO, while I play the CFO role.

I find it kind of funny that we celebrate dads (and moms for that matter) only one day out of the year. Parenting is not a cake walk. It's a lifetime of challenges. And while my kids are only 7 and 4, I'm only really starting my journey as a dad. As my mom says, "the bigger [kids] get, the bigger problems they have."

Bruins Clock Pt. 3

We're two wins away. I'm more excited than ever. I can't control my emotions and can't wait for the next game.

Keeping my PR skills refined has helped me secure this front page article in the Revere Journal about the promise that's 21 years in the making.

Two more wins. Let's get it boys.

Pacman Fun for All Ages

The past few weekends have been filled with home improvement projects. This weekend was fixing the hot water heater, specifically the element.

When I came upstairs, I heard the familiar sound of wakka wakka wakka.

That's right. Pacman. My kids were playing one of those game in a joystick devices and were having a blast.

It's a simple game. Eat all the pellets. Eat the big one to eat the ghost. Clear the board. Start again.

It's a good reminder that simple is sometimes better.
